Until 1953, Françoise Giroud retained leadership as editor and photographer Jean Chevalier as artistic director.Since 2006 it is the most popular fashion magazine in the world, with 42 international editions in over 60 countries, more than 20 million readers and 180,000 subscribers.Elle has 16 websites worldwide, which are visited by around 1 million visitors.
Initially launched as a weekly, Elle has since become a monthly magazine, distributed in the practical travel size version during the summer to make it practical and compact.
